Taste Tea Like a Pro with this Helpful Guide

Hey tea lovers,

One of my favorite sustainable and ethically-minded herbal suppliers has just dropped a very insightful guide on the language and methods to taste tea like a professional. Honestly, this guide has improved my own understanding of the tastes, textures, and everything inside the teas I’ve been making by hand for nearly five years, and so it felt like it was too good not to share with my tea lovin’ community.

Check out the guide to tasting tea here from Mountain Rose Herbs.

Using these terms, I put together a super quick and nifty little guide for all 8 teas currently on sale in the ATC online shop. This is a good refresher for teas you may not have had in a while and also to inform any tea newbies about what they can expect from each of ATC’s iconic collection of organic handmade herbal teas.

Mull It Over - Savory aroma, a bit soft, just a bite of mint over a sultry, light flavor. Soothing to the throat and nasal passages.

Mint, Meet Mint - Very bright and minty, full of character, darker liquor than the MIO tea but lots of body.

God(dess) in Repose - Floral, soft, a bit of tang from the hibiscus and very clean and flowery.

Respect the Elders - Full-bodied, dark liquor and slightly spicy. Heavy mouthfeel that coats the palate and supports your immunity and throat health.

Spicy Apple Splendor - A bit spicy and smoky, apple flavor is very present with a recognizable finish that’s very warming

Early Rise - Full of minty aroma and bergamot, dark liquor, a bit astringent that energizes you along with the caffeine content

Snappy Ginger Green - Astringent-like green tea with a bit of gingery spice that’s warming. Lighter liquor but full of complexity and body.

Jaguar Boost - A bit vegetal like a lot of green teas but full of body. Reddish liquor from the hibiscus with an acidic flair.

Lemon Louisiane - Citrusy, acidic, floral with a bit of pucker from all of the lemony elements. Flowery, memorable, and coppery.

Do you agree with these? What would you add or change? Hit me up and let me know! I love that MRH provides these types of resources to their communities because I definitely plan to use these and their helpful tea scorecards in my future tea tastings and events. I love to learn and share with all of you and this just makes me feel all the more ready to taste any kind of tea and know exactly how to describe it.
