Oh Hi, Hibiscus!

Hibiscus spp., or hibiscus, as it’s more commonly known, serves as a distinctive color and flavor note in two Adornleaf Tea Co. handmade herbal tea blends.

It’s refreshing, it’s sweet, and there are over 300 species in the Hibiscus genus. The tart, deep red flowers are also known as rose of sharon, hardy hibiscus, and rose mallow.

  • Hibiscus tea contains high levels of antioxidants such as vitamin C and anthocyanins.

  • Hibiscus tea can support liver health and function.

  • Hibiscus can promote healthy metabolism and weight loss.

  • Hibiscus can lower blood pressure and aid healthy circulation.

ATC is known for its distinctive, delicious hibiscus iced tea. I long brew it using organic dried hibiscus flowers for at least 4 hours. Then, I sweeten with local raw honey or turbinado cane sugar and chill before serving. It’s that simple - but also, not really (haha!). In truth, it took quite a few gallons before I got the hang of the brewing technique that worked best for ATC and yielded the tastiest, most beneficial iced tea. Luckily for everyone that enjoys it, it’s avaialble for purchase by the gallon! It’s a great addition to events like retreats, parties, gatherings, and yoga events. Read more about how you can snag some of it here.

Hibiscus is also a tried and true herbal ingredient in two ATC organic handmade herbal tea blends.

God(dess) in Repose is a floral, extra mellow and sweet non-caffeinated blend that can help support health and wellness for all genders.

Jaguar Boost is a unique caffeinated green tea blend with citrusy goodness and lots of hibiscus. It brews beautifully and swerves as a fitting homage to the wonderful, vibrant Jaguar Nation.

You can view both teas that feature hibiscus here.

Also, in case you missed it, hibiscus flowers are available in our herbal extras! You can use these gorgeous flowers in your tea blends, baking, DIY dyes, yoni steams, and much more. Check them out here :)

Happy hibiscus hunting, tea lovers. Until next time,

Rachel
