Early Rise - The Newest Blend from Adornleaf Tea Co.
You’ve probably noticed by now that there aren’t a lot of caffeinated blends here at Adornleaf Tea Co. And for a reason! At the launch of my company, I was learning so much about how to choose dried herbs, blend them, brew them, and make them my own that I was singularly focused on providing a space for these natural herbs to shine. And I’m still doing that :)
But as the people say, “Thangs have changed!” Let’s get real, we all need a little caffeine in our lives from time to time. The first caffeinated blend I’ve shared, Jaguar Boost, is by far the favorite of all of my vending events. And after connecting with more of you, and hearing more about what teas and flavors you like and would like to incorporate in your daily routines, I’ve decided to expand my focus.
Early Rise, the newest blend from Adornleaf Tea Co.
I’ll admit, this blend came together quite quickly. Since launching this venture in May, I’ve been working with herbs more and more and understanding how different herb families can play together to form a good tea. Even a cursory read-through of the teas available on this site can inform you of my own personal tastes. I like the savory aroma and subtle spice of chamomile; hence, Mull It Over. I like a strong mint flavor in both hot and iced teas; both Mint, Meet Mint and the dash of spearmint in Mull It Over should be proof enough of that. My personal tastes make it so that the healing qualities of Mullein are a necessity, and so it’s the base of two of my teas and available loose on its own. The point is that this endeavor, in so many ways, is an extension of my tastes.
I also rely exclusively on home-brewed tea to get much needed caffeine, and herein lies the issue: Jaguar Boost, the fiery fuschia red dazzler of all of the vending events I do, was the only caffeinated blend available. It’s a great tea, no doubt, but sometimes, the mood calls for something a bit more understated; less sweet. And here, I had identified a spot I needed to fill.
I love green tea, and I’ll be honest. I had every intention of offering only green tea on this site. But talking to more of you made me rethink that. Black tea is iconic. Recognizable on every Southern table in its iced form. Stronger than green tea on the caffeine. Plus many of the wonderful supporters of Adornleaf Tea Co. asked me about black tea; I had made my choice. And Earl Grey was a no brainer! Earl Grey is a black blend of Chinese origins that includes a kiss of bergamot oil. Why wouldn’t I want to see how I could mix it into something spectacular?
Peppermint brings out the satisfying earthiness of Earl Grey, and gives the tea a nice cooling aspect as well. Orange peel sweetens it up, but not too much, and can be accentuated with honey as a sweetener. Seriously, the caffeine is just enough to get you out of the door and on your way without any of the jitters or the crash. With a little input from you on all Instagram, this tea came together in less than a day. A weekend off and a few trials and errors later, Early Grey is ready to make her debut.
Check it out here. And as always, thanks for reading.
